We have a quick reminder… If someone calls or messages you to pay a past-due bill, order some type of service, pay your taxes, or even avoid going to jail, and they tell you that the only way you can do for it is to pay them with a gift card, that should be a huge red flag for you. We can guarantee that it’s going to be a scam – 100 out of 100 times.
Once you buy that gift card and give them the numbers on the back, your money is gone, and there’s absolutely no way to track it down. It doesn’t matter how convincing they are or what information they seem to know about you. DON’T DO IT!! No legitimate business works that way.
The best way to deal with these people is to hang up the phone or delete the message. If you don’t, the only thing that you’ll have to show for it will be a much lighter wallet.
