Crawford County Kansas has issued a stricter mask order to protect employees and patrons. Clarification regarding “social distancing” seating is defined. With our hospital reaching capacity last week, it’s important that we all do our part to keep ourselves and each other safe.”

There’s been some confusion about the mask requirements for Crawford County Kansas, so we discussed them in our meeting Friday.

It is required by law for people to wear masks while in public. The county upheld the governor’s mask mandate issued in July.

The county issued its own stricter mask order requiring businesses to have employees and customers wear masks unless seated and eating/drinking and implement social distancing between patrons. While no consequences are specified for individuals, businesses found to not be complying with the order can be reported and closed.

If you go into a business and see they aren’t following the order, you can report them to the Crawford County Health Department by calling (620)231-5411.

We put these orders in place to protect public health in a crisis. Given the very close call with our hospital reaching capacity last week, it’s more important than ever for people to do their part to keep each other safe.
UPDATE: For clarification, the commission voted 3-0 on September 4 to implement Health Order #3: https://www.crawfordcountykansas.org/…/crawford_county…. State statute grants counties broad powers regarding local health.
